Does anyone have any experience in doing concurrent version control for MS Office Documents? Sharepoint is fucking expensive. Perforce looks cool (www.perforce.com) but it starts at $800/seat. CVS/Subversion can be used with custom ActiveX/OLE menus, but then the documents are only sored as binary files, and you can't do automated comparisons between versions, or reconcile race conditions if two users checkout an unlocked document (I can't lock documents in my application). You'd have to do the comparisons manually, which is undesirable. Anyone?
