cool vid, but god damn did we really think interiors like that were acceptable back then .. yikes..
Just as people in 1920 accepted the interiors of the cars then.
no offense, but the C4 interiror unpardonable
Why don't you find some C4 interior pictures and some Porsche 944 (the vette's competition back in the day) interior pictures and post them side by side. Start in 84 (1st year of C4) and go to 91 (last year of 944) You can even go past 91 and compare the vette to the 911 interior.
In terms of materials, porsche interiors have only recently held their water, I agree, but the 944 interior blows that shit out of the water. thats so much cleaner i can't even begin to describe. again, materials are poor in both
have you guys seen ferrari interiors back then? HORRIBLE. There is nothing wrong with the C4 interior. Everything is at hand, you have to reach for nothing, the only thing I would change is the turn single stalk. I can't believe we are talking about interiors.....
That's the only thing that the anti-Vette guys have to bitch about. What else would they say? The vette is slow? It's too expensive? It's ugly? So, rightly or wrongly (always wrongly) they bitch about the interior.
Here's a nice side-by-side:
Please, point out specifically where the 944 has a nicer interior. Is it the attractive gauge faces that look like they came out of an early 90's truck? Perhaps it's the massive air vents that take up so much real-estate on the dash that they had to put buttons all the way over on the passenger side.
wow, I always forget how bad the 84-89 vette interiors were, however we're talking about the 90-96 here
Shit, the 90-96 interiors were fine.
I liked the interior of my 96 CE Vette
it's not about usability, and in this case, materials. as you've demonstrated, function can be ugly, but are you fucking KIDDING, you can't believe we're talking about interiors?
If you're what domestic guys have come to (ironically in light of some great recent domestic interiors)...
Well all I can say is the Callaway Twin Turbo is pure sex.
Since we're bitching about pointless aethetics, I'd like to point out an area that the aesthetic value of the old is superior to the new:
The engine bay. What with today's plastic covers hiding any metallic beauty, its almost an insult that Chevy included a clear window over the engine in the new ZR1.
when the ZR-1 was released they actually came out with a clear hood for the car......I want one
i agree that the lt5 looks better but the engine cover is only the black horse shoe that goes around the blower
