What software are you peeps using? I want to run this on my linux box from home.
Specifically this is the download page, you can download the server files for linux from here: http://www.shoutcast.com/download/files.phtml
I occasionaly run a shoutcast server on my router so I can setup a playlist on one computer and go around the house and listen to the same thing no matter where I go.
As far as rebroadcasting the stream goes, my 486 with Debian has done up to 4 streams w/o any loss. So it isn't very processor intensive, just bandwidth intensive.
Other things you can look at are teh opensource IceCast, but I prefer shoutcast better.
sweet, thanks guys. I just wish i had a better connection that my POS Cox cable. I usually get only 20-25 kb/sec on average upstream. Hope i don't have to kill the quality
Pretty easy to find how much bandwidth it uses:
