"Take a piece of tape from about 6″ long and bring a part into the camera with the cotton bud. These are clean and soft so you can apply some pressure on the tape with it and make sure you cover the surface of the sensor with the tape. You can do this more then once."

Scotch Magic tape actually works really well for cleaning some optics... :mamoru:

A guy I work with turned me onto using it, (for mirror chambers and some focusing screens, not sensors). He's been using it for years cleaning high end microscopes.

I actually sometimes use a product similar to this for cleaning sand and other sharp stuff on sensors. If you do it right this probably actually works! (The filters over sensors are actually pretty tough! But no, I don't recommend this...)
