My cousin and I were debating last night about how achieve muscle mass through LIFTING (disregard nutrition). My cousin says that you need to lift heavy weights with low reps to achieve muscles. But I tell him that I do not want to get "Big", I want an almost lean and cut look (my goal is marine type body). So I do high reps so that I will have cuts and hoping that my muscles will get bigger. He further tells me that is his point, "you have to have muscles in order to form them." Basically build my muscles mass up, then form them. Is he right? I am thinking your muscle mass will go up if you continue to lift high reps and steadily increase the weights. I don't know if I am making any sense, so let me know. I just wanted a second opinion. Thanks.
