God thats tempting. Im shooting with my 18-70 on my D700 but its cropping to DX.........thinking about it.
its a sharp ass lens. I have it. I paid more for mine used....but I got a hood.
How is it under low light? Would it AF quick enough to be able to shoot weddings? Cause that's what Im doing this spring.
Damn it, this is my next purchase but wasnt planning on getting it until after xmas! I can't spend that money now Would fit perfectly in between my tokina 12-24 and an 80-200
Makes no sense having a FF camera with a DX lens. Like having a F1 car and putting 87 octane in it.
If you buy I reccommend spending 15 on the the hood that comes with the 70-300G. I think it's the HB-15. It works better than the hood that is supposed to come with the lens at controling flair. You just have to sand off the little nubs. If you do that it's still going to be cheaper than any used you will find
Perfect for weddings. It is tack sharp at 2.8, and it is made of metal. I have the HB-15 hood for it, far better than the hood that came with the lens. You have to remember this is a push/pull zoom. The AF is driven by the camera body, and it is slower than AF-S. It also has a macro feature on it, but it doesn't do 1:1 macros, and you cannot AF with the lens in the macro mode. The caliber of the glass is worth more than the $250 dollar price tag. I promise. This lens stays mounted on my D300 more than any other. The bokeh is awesome, smooth. Its sharp at all apertures, just an awesome lens.
Here's one at f/2.8 from the other thread:
35 is almost not wide enough, even on a FF I think. I love my 28-70, but I want wider. 14-24 maybe?
Yeah I was thinking of the 24-70 down the road but this is VERY tempting. I'll be thinking about it...I'll decide by tonight
I'll take it. PM sent
I'll take it if first offer falls through
Sold. Thanks for playing guys. Hope you enjoy it twinturboteddy.
And holy lurker.
No need to think anymore.
Yeah, it's all good. I think I might buy myself a lens for Christmas anyway...I'll see what's aorund.
