My BJJ not so much. I get pretty tooled by this guy but my take downs look like take downs and I have a sprawl!! (only took 3 years). http://s67.photobucket.com/albums/h...imore bjj/?action=view¤t=100_0722_1.flv So there is a striking coach at this school on Saturdays. I'm all excited because god knows my striking is on the low side of "meh". So I get there and I'm warming up and stretching and this mother fucker walks in with karate pads. Ok, I'm not one to reserve judgemenat(wait...yes I am ) so I'm just gonna wait and see what its like. He tells me we are going to do some thai boxing today. Now to preface this, I know my stand up sucks. But that doesn't mean I haven't been to some proper thai boxing classes. I know the drills, know what the techniques look like, etc... So our first warm up combo is a lead hand back fist and a "reverse punch". I shit you not. The we go on to learn why follow through on kicks is bad and about how if you snap them you will get more power. The we go onto why you don't switch kick, you just change stances It was awesome, let me tell. I had so much fun sparring those guys. But herein lies my problem I think. The form problems I have when I'm really fighting are the ones that I let my self have when I'm just playing around. Dropping my hands, head straight up, etc... http://s67.photobucket.com/albums/h...ltimore bjj/?action=view¤t=100_0699.flv This guy kept yelling "control control" if anyone barely got slapped. I so badly wanted to inform him this wasn't ballet. I was letting this guy hit me in the face at one point(because he didn't' want to tee off) and he punched me in the chest like 3 times in a row because they don't like to strike to the face or something, lol. You can hear me tell him to hit me(then I promptly got jabbed in the nose ). The sparring was fun and it was a good work out, but I won't be showing up for the actual class again. And I wasn't really trying to get the take down, just work on the shot and getting under punches. When I'm punching/getting punched at I still have a tendency to not change levels and just bend at the waist. What a joke.
