I'd think the drug offenders would be in the millions
That brings up an interesting issue of who is trying to buy guns but can't, and WHY they're trying to buy guns!
VERY interesting that the DV convictions is <1%
That seems realllly low for felons
I was thinking the same thing.
I'm wondering if these numbers are relating to the # of people who have tried to purchase a firearms and been denied due to these reasons
What I don't understand is, if we're aware of and have documented 4 million illegal aliens, why haven't they been deported?
"active records in the NICS index"
it sounds to me like it should be all the records on the denial list, but it can't be.
What is the exact wording on the illegal drug user bullshit? I got convicted of misdemeanor possession of marijuana last month, I assume I'm fucked?
So as long as your gun hasn't moved in interstate or foreign commerce, you're ok.
Most of the time with DV, the victim won't show so it will get thrown out. They also plead most of them down to a simple battery charge.
Simple answer: We don't have the resources, time, or money. That, and the liberals in control of the government like illegals. Hell, I have dealt with people who have active warrants for felony crimes (robbery, burglary, etc) in other parts of the country but I can't do shit about it because the jurisdiction the warrant is out of will only extradite from thier own state. It costs too much to fly them back there.
Hell, even at our local jail, we have a program to identify illegals when they come through. If it is only a misdemeanor, they get put in the database as illegal and if they ever get arrested again, they get deported.
Pony up the money for it. Oh wait, you probably ardently oppose any increase in your taxes. My bad.
I think we're missing something on these numbers. For example in 2006 the FBI says the nics section denied 69,930 firearm purchases, with 58k denied for criminal history. That would mean we should estimate somewhere in the ballpack of 1/4 people listed for criminal history tried to buy a gun in 2006? Seems unlikely.
I'd be willing to use them as target practice.
The money is already there. Quit spending money on buying banks and auto manufacturers, quit spending money on welfare and medical care, and presto! You have over 2 trillion dollars to spend on border and immigration enforcement.
When the "illegal aliens" go, who's going to do the menial work?
high school kids
Good luck getting most HS kids now to do physical labor bitch work.
maybe those 10% unemployed
