Macbook Pro with 4gb of RAM and I'm in.
So is it saying that they're going to release one new model of the MBP on the 5th, and another on the 11th @ WWDC?
No. They're saying they want to announce the new MBP's before they start the "going back to school" deal with the discounted iPods with a Mac purchase. Otherwise, if they waited til WWDC, they'd start the sale, and then suddenly change the specs a week in.
Damn. Anyone want to buy my MBP Core Duo?
or a slight spec boost like macbook
that's what i'm thinking...
Hopefully they'll put in an 8600M.
I thought the current C2D's were already LED?
yippee ki yay motherfucker!
that was also my understanding....
So when the Macbooks got the most recent upgrade they dropped to using only the glossy screen. Do you think this well hold for the Macbook Pro also?
I hope not.
it would seem very likely though...
macbooks only ever had a glossy screen
do the newer ones run any less hot? mine is getting up neare 175 degrees F while my fans are at 6k rpm
no mac has led.
Figures, I just bought one about a week and a half ago when all my Mac zealot friends assured me that there would be no MBP upgrade any time soon.
Eh well they are morons then, it's all over the mac sites that MBPs are likely to be upgraded very soon, and even non-mac sites know it'll be comming due to santa rosa being released. But I wouldn't worry about it, yeah the new ones will offer better performance, but it's more akin to core duo vs core 2 duo performance, a redesign i suppose is possible but the MBPs are fine as they are. LED screens aren't the saviour s some would have you think. Enjoy your MBP regardless of whatever new comes out, in a years time both will be as reduntant as each other from a consumers point of view.
Should have posted here first
I just bought a core duo too...
the macbook pros will retain the option of having glossy or matte. it's a pro system, and graphics people strongly prefer matte screens.
Yeah, even I knew about that, but everyone I talked with about a month ago felt that wouldnt make it to the MBP for awhile and that they likely wouldnt release a new MBP till Leopard was out and ready to go. Things like the mini would be upgraded first.
Yeah, its just all the power I can get is important since its a heavy photo editing machine when I'm on the road (I get sick of my Mac Pro Quad being too slow at home ), but its not the end of the world. What would really have me pissed is if the new ones come with a two button mousepad. I am absolutely sick of not having that available to me after replacing a PC laptop.
Apple admits that two buttons are a good thing by doing the Mighty Mouse, why they continue to hold on to this idiotic and ancient idea on their laptops is beyond me.
That and better wireless performance. Compared to my old Dell laptop, the strength of signal on my MBP is absolutely dismal.
