one to be expected anytime soon or should i just purchase the current model?
should be out soon
People have been saying that for several months.
Buy the current model.
yea, but i would be pissed if i buy it and one month later there is a better version
take it for what its worth. its your money
no one knows for sure. only way to be safe is to wait for the new model then buy it asap.
all production going towards the iphone!
sweet deal then ill just wait it out.. my old shitty gateway will have to do the trick till then
I've been waiting it out since Macworld. I want some bluray in my macbook pro
Mostly because I want to write to bluray disks
if you want a mac, buy a mac. regardless of kind, there is always a new one just around the corner.
with apple you can wait yourself to infinity
september 16th is my deadline
I read a few comments from this guy called OMG! Ponies! on the link you posted. Pretty interesting on how he avoids buying the warranty but still gets his issues resolved for free by threatening legal action.
"I threaten litigation against manufacturers when their products fail. For example, when my XBox 360 died, even though I was outside of their 1 year warranty period. I explained to Microsoft that they had already issued a statement admitting that the defect was a manufacturing defect and that they don't want to take a verdict. They waived the repair fee."
"When my MacBook's hard drive died three weeks after the one year warranty expired, I called for repair service, which they quoted me at $175. I explained to them that a jury in Brooklyn might think that a $1400 computer should last more than a year and that they don't want to take a verdict. They waived the repair fee."
Haha I'm in the exact same boat as you man. I've got a 10 year old gateway that I still use as my everyday pc (i'm using it right now). I was going to buy a macbook now, but I've decided to wait for the new ones..
Take into consideration the fact that retailers are being told to stock up, and the fact that the back to school deal thats going on now ends on September 15th and it seems very likely that the new notebooks (and ipods as well) should be out sometime in late September (or at Least announced then).
I can't wait to see what Apple has in store for it's consumers.
It's still really painful for me to pass up the free iPod touch
No with other laptop manufacturers there are always new ones just around the corner and you can wait yourself to infinity. Your purchase will be out of date within days.
It'd pretty foolish to buy an apple product at the end of its life cycle seeing as they don't update very often. If you buy Apple at the beginning of the life cycle your purchase will be out of date in 6 months.
"Apple Receives Six New Patents: New MacBook, Dock Designs Coming?"
thing is, nobody knows when these cycles begin or end except for a handful of people at apple. you can speculate all you want, but i think what i said stands. ive been a customer for over 10 years and have seen this happen over and over. you can read it for yourself, in every page of threads in this forum people are asking "should i wait? should i wait?"
IMNSHO, out of date is marketing bullshit. If you are happy with your rig, it's not out of date. I doubt our MBP will be out of date for a long time.
I dunno I think they are asking because it really matters. If I was spending a lot of money on something, I'd want it to be the best for as long as possible.
my g4 powerbook is still not out of date
that's what i say. i hate when people think that it is a problem when a new model comes and people say "aww, man. now my pc is obsolete and i need a new one." the only time you need a new one is when your computer no longer keeps up with the tasks you want it to do.
the only caveat to that is when you know that waiting a few weeks will give you access to new technology for the same price, then it is worth waiting. i personally wouldn't wait for a faster CPU or simple things like that, but a dockable laptop? i'd wait for a while for that.
More fingers pointing at an upcoming September Event:
