ART New photographer v.40d or rebel series

Hello, I will be taking a photography class in the spring. I have been looking at cameras and im not totally sure on what would be a better beginner camera. I was hoping I could get some opinions on here

well, it depends.

I actually started out in the rebel series. 350D/XT. Was great to learn on, but I quickly grew out of it and purchased the 40D.

If you think you're going to love it, get the 40D. It's built much better, feels better in your hand, better IQ (although, I don't know vs the t2i.)

I'm glad I have my 40D instead of a rebel though, every time I open my camera bag.

Definitely a 40D.
Having gone from a Rebel body (350D) to a 40D, I assure you, its worth to shell out the extra few hundred.

As others have suggested, the 40D is a substantial improvement, starting with its build and size.

I couldn't imagine shooting with a rebel after having a 40D for so long. I've held them in stores and played with the new features, but they are so tiny. Especially since my 40D is gripped.

This class allows either film or DSLR

Is there a difference between the 20/30d and the 40d?

There's years of technology improvement. Other than that any of them are great cameras. Oh and the 40D has live view. Not sure about the 30d, but sometimes its a useful feature and the view screen is much better than the 20D.

went from a rebel 450d xsi -> 7d. If i were to choose between a rebel and 40d, go with the 40d

You'll never regret having a way better camera (unless you regret spending the money). So if the money isn't an issue, just get the 40d
