I'm not gay, so I don't know the difference.
im pretty sure Nikkor is just the name for Nikons optics division(lenses and what not)
one name wasn't good enough? they had to use a second almost-identical name?
That just seems wasteful. Maybe that's why Nikon stuff costs so much.. you're paying for the additional branding.
hey nikon isn't the one with a 7,200 dollar camera!
that's just for Nikon converts that are used to paying too much money
the 5D mk II is only 2,700... not too shabby considering what it can do.
still, bottom line is that it's 7,200 dollars.
I don't get your point.
Most people aren't looking to buy a 1Ds Mk III.. there are plenty of alternatives for even 1/10 the price.
Most Nikon users ARE looking to buy lenses that cost more than their Canon counterparts.
"Maybe that's why Nikon stuff costs so much."
I'm not getting your point either. You specifically said Nikon stuff costs alot, bottom line. Then I said Canon makes a 7,200 dollar camera. You never said anything about it being what most people are looking to buy, you just simply said nikon's stuff costs alot. So I pointed out Canon makes cameras that cost as much as a d700 and a d3 combined. That's all, how does it not make any sense? Just because Nikon makes a 10,000 dollar 600mm f/4 doesn't mean most people want to buy it..
I'm going to sit down, buckle up, and get the popcorn. This thread looks like its going to be a doozy.
I make a joke thread. Tedrzz thinks I raped his mom.
I have no idea how much any Nikon stuff costs. All I know is that I often see Nikon people in OTAP complaining about the cost of glass.
no i was just making a point, i really don't care and i really am not trying to start anything at all..i was just saying...i guess the bottom line is you shouldn't always base stuff off what OTAP says! lol
why would you rape his mom
because he is not gay
it's not rape, it's surprise sex
you're right. they don't make a camera in that league.
they make a 1dmk3 competitor, both costing the same (~$4k).
Nikkor has had the name forever.
Even when Canon started making cameras, they had Nikkor make lenses for them.
That does bring up a question for me though... What would you guys recommend as far as "decent" glass, on a tight budget. i'm talking sub~$700. No it doesn't have to be the best on the planet, but anything better than my kit lens(es) would be appreciated.
if you are on a budget for glass i'd recommend the 18-200 VR. it's got really solid optics for the price, and it costs less than 700 dollars.
Tamron 17-50 2.8!
Nikkor was the original entity name when 3 optics companies merged in Japan. Nikon was their Camera line's name, which came out later.
IIRC, the line name "Nikon" became widely recognizeable so it just naturally progressed as a brand name.
Seconded! Great budget lens.
