No charges for man who stabbed would-be robbers, Chicago police say Incident that left 1 teen dead, another wounded called self-defense April 23, 2008 http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-teens-stabbedapr23,1,7082727.story A 53-year-old man who fatally stabbed a 15-year-old and injured another teen after the youths apparently tried to mug him has been released by Chicago police and will not face charges, officials said. The man's actions have been labeled "self-defense," Police Officer John Mirabelli said. The incident occurred shortly before midnight Monday in the 7300 block of South Stony Island Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood, police said. The boy was "drinking on the street" with an 18-year-old when the two accosted the man, who was walking by, authorities said. The man tried to walk away but was "grabbed and pulled back by the victims," police said in a statement. The man then stabbed the 15-year-old in the chest and the 18-year-old in the thigh, police said. The younger boy was taken to Stroger Hospital and pronounced dead at 12:53 a.m. Tuesday, said the Cook County medical examiner's office. His name was not being released pending notification of family. The 18-year-old was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, police said. He remained in the hospital Tuesday afternoon, but it is unclear whether he will face charges in the incident. --- Good that he's not being charged and he was able to kill one of the little fuckers to bad the other will live, being chicago I'm surprised they dont charge him for carrying a concealed weapon.
