what is the normal cpu temperature? like regular everyday use?
With stock cooler, my E6600 C2D ran around 41-42C with regular use.
I put a Zalman 7700 series copper cooler on it, and overclocked it to 3ghz, and it still ran under 45C.
my stock e6750 is running at 44c
load or idle?
My E6750 OC'd to 3.2GHz is running at 33C under mild browsing/music listening on stock cooling. My case is extremely well ventilated though. Quiet too.
Normal operating temperature isn't the issue. If your computer can run at 100% load for 20 minutes or so, and not lock up, then it's got adequate cooling.
how should i test it?
well im running speedfan and my laptop is reading 34
Run PCMark on it.
or folding@home for team 36329
using speedfan there are 3 cpu temps
temp1 ; 45, temp 2; 35, temp 3; -2 celcius
i dono how to interpret that, anyone know?
Try Core Temp instead of speedfan.
Prime95 small-FFT torture test is great for generating heat.
Temp 1 = CPU
Temp 2 = chipset
Temp 3 = not used, in your case.
Still run it on all my servers... seems everyone else forgot about it
30C with a Zalman fan/heatsink @ idle
36C under stress, case is a big factor, I had a Antec Cloud 9.
in speed fan, i have four temps. Temp 1, Temp 2, Temp 3, then again Temp 1 with a different temp than the other Temp 1...any ideas whats what?
That's one thing about Intel boards.
The Intel utility has a good monitor for temps.
Best one I ever saw though was on a tyan server board.
The Tyan utility monitors every single part of a motherboard.
