Blurring the digital dash is annoying as fuck. They didn't do this last season. WTF
I haven't watched much NASCAR in a few years, but I did think that blurring the dash was new.
There was one commentator saying it was in-team communication and data that could appear on the screen. Makes sense to take advantage of the tech to show when teammates are near or having issues.
Regardless, I don't think dash should be blurred. they have sold this concept of same or similar parts for everyone, then show all of is it is same for everyone.
I recall back in the old days of new, rotate, pan and zoom cameras inside the cars, some teams would put post it notes or index cards over some of their gauges so other teams wouldn't be able to see the coolant and oil temps they ran, particularly on restrictor plate races. The driver would have to flip up the card to read the gauge.
Also read that some teams would create cheater tachometers that the drivers knew would indicate wrong. Like if 8800rpm is shown, it is actually 8650.
Those teams were so fearful that the gearing they chose would then be known by others.
Neat stuff back before all the restrictive rules.
