Outdated and one of the best examples of how 'following the science' is influenced by US politics and economic policy.

Australian authorities documented transmission between two passing travelers in Bondi Junction, NSW where infection occurred after only a few seconds of passing exposure

Well known case in Aus that influenced health policy there. In the US, business lobby and R states pushed back on CDC saying anything less than 15 minutes and closer than 6 feet. To say so would mean people need to wear masks everywhere! Like China!
I think it obviously can happen. I'm just saying that a mask might not do much in a room full of mostly no maskers over a period of 6 hours like a classroom.

The new data probably supports that mask is even less effective if its that contagious when not everyone is masking up.

So with omicron that 25 hours of N95 to N95 is probably closer to 2.5 hours

The problem is no studies are conducted on that in the US to know. If everyone is OK with getting covid as they say, a human challenge trial could answer this really fast

Masks reduce the viral load which impacts severity of infection. N95 up, and maybe get an asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic case which hopefully resolves. But throw away the mask and roll the dice. Maybe wind up taking a high viral load, getting long covid or an infection that doesn't clear. People who don't mask accept that risk to their health.

In classrooms there are tools like the Corsi Rosenthal, but they will never be widely used, precautions perpetuate anxiety

Also the UK did human challenge trials already hth

It’s quite a bit of reading please take your time, as long as needed, forever if you have to

Let’s waltz on down to inner city schools with mold, sealed windows, failing plumbing, no budgets for textbooks or supplies and students with no home internet access headed by a single mom working 2 jobs and just let them know they need air filters, remote learning and mask.
Simple

Exactly the point as to why we followed empirical science in the US and got fucked. These are super old, and the UK HCT was not on mask wearing. Pity anyone that follows this

It’s strange that no country in the world is bothering to do HCTs with mask in 2022, maybe China can get around to it

It is an irony. If people think Covid is no big deal, more would step up and take some viral load for science, maybe even make $500. Maybe volunteer a classroom for a good HCT. The data will really be useful. No greater risk than going unmasked to the grocery or to class right

China already has the data they need, see how they remain on lock?

Chinas method of locking down its citizens yet not pushing for their elderly to get vaccinated is the way to go?

You do realize hundreds of millions of people are walking into grocery stores, classrooms, events, stadiums etc unmasked right? There are hundreds of millions of real world HCT happening right now

It works for China. China is focused on their 200 year+ world domination plan/breaking American hegemony. A few quarters or years of Covid downturn aren't shit to them and so far people in China have been compliant. The elderly aren't emissaries and workers in this grand scheme.

Ironically the US/West approach of loosening will only make China hold and even tighten, they see widespread uncontrolled Covid as another underlying societal fault that the West introduced on itself and that China can exploit

So as we continue to build up immunity to Covid overtime in the US is Chinas plan to just keep locking down citizens for the foreseeable future? How is that something that can be sub stained for years and years to come?

You don’t think their lockdowns aren’t hurting their own economy?

They are hurting (at least according to western press) and people are beginning to get frustrated (elevate that to 'angry mobs' in western press).

But people are still complying. No AR toting mobs storming legislative sessions in China. So how angry are they really?

China is focused on the long, long game and this is but a blip

Long game? They have no immunity built up. If this is even remotely accurate their citizens have almost zero exposure to Covid. Covid is not going to go away ever. Do you really think they are just going to lockdown forever?
