I picked up an old computer for free...it has no hard drive...its a compaq probably from 1998ish

Now I have an NEC from the same time period....

Can i just remove the hard drive from the NEC and put it into the Compaq.....

My question is if it will work software wise....not installation wise...if it doesnt work that way..thats fine....i jsut want to know...can i just install a new hard drive in a new computer and it will work???

Oh...and i want to keep everythign on the hard drive from the NEC....

    Thanks 4 the help

You will probably have problems - don't forget that the installation on your NEC's HD is made for that computer and has drivers for things that were present on the NEC.

It might work but I suggest you have your windows CD ready - you are WAY better off putting the HD in the Compaq and doing a fresh install.
