why not the coupe????
because it's no gtr
testing the waters?
um, neither is this
it doesn't infringe upon the idea that coupe + awd = gtr
but the upcoming GT-R is gonna be a whole other platform... Every Audi is AWD... they can't offer two AWD coupes???
besides, GT-R is a Nissan designation. Not Infiniti. Most Americans that would be buying an Infiniti wouldn't know what the hell a Skyline GT-R is, lol
Because the cars it competes with in the segment generally don't have AWD on their coupes, only the sedans.
all the more reason to offer it
Welcome to the 21st century, FI is a dying concept with the ever increasing emissions restrictions and cost controls.
is the GTR going to be a totally different platform?
every Audi has AWD (Quattro) because it's a trademark of theirs; similar with Honda and their VTEC thing. nissan/infiniti doesn't have anything similar to that with their awd system
I guarantee you it'd force the others to offer, or at least look into offering, AWD on their coupes. They'd set a precedent...
Infringe... thats a big word man. Like MA-YO-NAISE!
The auto industry is about making a profit.
the upcoming Japanese Nissan GT-R isn't going to just be a hopped up version of the current Japanese Skyline (our G35 coupe)
AWD wouldn't be a selling point. The way it is now, Infiniti is trying to be the low-buck alternative to big name Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, etc. Adding an AWD system will certainly add a halo effect to the G35 line, but it's benefits would be marginal at best. Just my 2 cents.
and how many times have I said these same words and had you all raise hell???
B/C it weighs 300lbs and why would you need it in that car?
plus it only comes with auto tranny
it would take away from the sales of the upcoming GT-R
used G35 AWD coupe + 350z twin turbo kit = poor man's GT-R
Even with that being the case, it would create a grey area between a GTR and a regular G35 coupe. And if you remember Nissan's recent history, having too many cars in their lineup was what caused them to go bankrupt. It just doesn't make any business sense.
the hell are you talkin about? my friend has a G35C with a 6 speed...
edit - now I see what you were saying... the AWD only comes with an automatic. My bad
because they don't want to take away sales from the g56x coupe which will come out oneday (gtr)
None that I recall.
r32 and r33 both had awd non gtr coupes
pretty sure r34 was the same
really? I thought it was their boring ass cookie-cutter designs
