if a 45 is fired out of an ar45 will it be supersonic or subsonic?
Wouldn't it depend on what ammo is used?
no, if you load enough powder in a 45 casing to project the 230grain projectile at 1100fps, you will have case failure
Yeah. Something like a 185gr or even a 205gr +P is going to be super-sonic out of the longer barrels.
Regular 230gr should stay sub.
People tell me that all .45 is subsonic.
so an ar45 with like i dunno the blackbox on it will be quiet except the action cycling.
Probably true out of pistol length barrels.
Gross generalization, but all other things being equal longer barrels = more velocity up to a point of diminishing returns. Depends a lot on the cartridge and powders. For examply... Buffalo Bore makes a .357 Mag load the chrono's at just under 1500fps out of a 3" barrel, but nearly 2300fps out of a 18.5" barrel.
