GAME OT, learn me on DS/DSi homebrew

want to pick a ds off of craigslist for cheap just to play through the backlog of pokemon and zelda and whatnot, but not sure what homebrew on the dsi is like. i had a ds lite before that used an R4 card in slot #1 and that worked alright, is it the same deal for the dsi?

is there any reason to get the dsi over the ds lite anyway? the cameras seem like a gimmick.

how are the dsi/dsi xl?

I love mine, much easier to hold, for games that you need the shoulder buttons you don't get the hand cramp, love the larger screen.
