Is it reliable at all? They are selling for ridiculously cheap.

Is the 3.7L decent for such a 4500lb vehicle? Or should I try and get the 4.7v8?

The only way I can really afford a 4.7 is by getting it used, but there are some dealers selling the trucks with v8s for 20k with about 16k miles including the 8/80 CPO warranty.

the 4.7 is also more than likely going to have leather, 6 disc, and a roof and be a limited. you won't find 06's for 20k...only the laredo's

www.familychryslerjeep.com some of the cheapest in the country

the v6 in the laredo is just fine. i've driven them as a demo on and off all winter

yeah im looking at laredos. I don't need anything fancy in the car except for maybe the mp3 capable head unit.

i found some place in greenvale, ny with a couple of the 06 v8s for 20k. If I buy used I want it certified (just because of the warranty).

if you're referring to the one with the auxiliary port, they're standard on 05+

    oh nice

Yeah I need to test drive the 3.7L. We have a dealer near us, simmons-rockwell, they give insanely good prices, but since I'm also looking used, it best be certified.

    Thanks for the link.

Do you know anythign about their reliability? I've heard good and bad stories about em.

I have a 2006 Grand Cherokee, fully loaded.

I'll drive it until it dies, then I'll get another one.

    Fast, comfortable, and safe.

    5.7L hemi ftw.

I can't speak for the Grand Cherokee by itself, but Jeep's dependability numbers as a whole have not been all that good.

You can expect to have about 2.6 problems in the first three years, compared to the industry average of 2.3 problems.

Yeah that kind of concerns me. I'll definitely be getting the extended warranty though.

Then again those libertys are enormous POSes as were the last gen grand cherokees.

I never really thought the '05+ Grand Cherokee would be smaller than my '01, but it is. We took a trip to that God forsaken place College Station, TX and rented a GC. I had to force the luggage in the back, where as there was plenty of room in my '01. The visibility was a little different. I'm only 5'11" and I noticed the headliner is lower(roof) than the '01. After driving it we decided we would not be getting the '05+ GC.

To me the difference between 2.6 problems and 2.3 problems is acceptable, and I was more sold on the performance and luxury than anything else. It had the features I wanted.

The Liberty might be a main cause of the 2.6 versus 2.3, though. :dunno:

not a big difference. I think quadra trac 1 lacked a neutral/low-range mode on the transfer case.

I love the price point for what you get and I don't need any luxury at all.

oh yeah are the rear seats 60/40 fold down?
