Alright, what are your thoughts on this car? Likes, dislikes? Reviews?
Apparently there aren't too many FWD fans on this board.
I personally like the car.
my boss had 2 of them... both had a handful of problems, but were generally good cars.
i had one. it was pretty nice. ran pretty good too. tranny started shootin shits tho. so i sold it.
Anyone know of any good GTP websites where one could purchase modifications and the like?
we only use clubgp.com out of that list above..
www.intense-racing.com (we stay away from them... scammers)
www.grandprixstore.com (AKA PFYC.com)
Also to add... with $600 you can hit mid to high 13's easily.. (from stock)
1.9 Rockers from zzperformance.com or wbodystore.com
^^^^ gen1s dont need springs and retainers... but gen 3's need at least 95lb springs and ZZP retainers
wbodystore PEM (ported exhaust manifolds) or hulkspeed.com PEMs
3.2"- 3.3" supercharger pulley (depending on how your car reacts to mods)
autolite 104 sparkplugs
good driver Really isnt hard to launch these cars.
with $1600 you can hit 12's (from stock)
same parts listed above
+ stage2 intercooler from ZZP or Wbodystore
AFC 2.0 or above
42.5lb injectors (needed when under 3.0" pulley)
and remember.. scan scan scan for knock retard.
here is a write up about it... http://www.graffix.org/gtp/knockretard.zip
I had 4,one for race with highly modded engine, then the other 3 daily drivers over the years.I love Grand Prixs.I wish I didnt have to sell my 00(the race one). But I wanted the GTO so I had to
Nice cars, test drove several from various years when I was considering buying one. Fun, quick and still practical.
Badass for the info... just what I was looking for. Any other suggestions?
Pic of one I just picked up a week or so ago... 2000, 71k, well kept car... very clean... only a few minor faults on the outside (scratch and small dent)... got it for 8.5k.
Those aren't even my license plates... waiting until I get my new plates in the mail before I remove the old ones (bought it from texas)
At my parents house:

See my log cabin in teh reflection? For a bunch of college guys in a college town, we ballin
Not everyone wants a "race car" or visits the track every weekend... some of us just want a usable daily driver with some muscle.
It's nice being able to have up to 4 other friends in the car and still impress not only yourself but them with the quickness.
So what pulley size would you guys recommend? I was thinking of getting a 3.4" because I read that anything smaller requires more drastic mods, such as more aggressive heads, intercooler system, etc. Is that true? I do know that once you get below a 3.4" the threat of knock retard becomes higher with the increased boost... how much of an increased risk am I looking at with a 3.4"?
The only mods I were thinking of starting with were exhaust, intake, 3.4" pulley and a PCM. Can I really go smaller with the pulley without delving into more aggressive mods?
Can anyone direct me to the best PCM for my GTP? I've seen numerous ones around but they all claim different shit, and the prices vary on the extreme.
I'm new about the car scene, but I'm not stupid. Educate me!
Edit: And someone please explain this "core charge" thing with PCM's. Little confused...
Do they send you the programmed PCM, charge you the $100 core, then when you send them back your original stock PCM they refund your $100?
pretty much. i had dhp on mine. to run anything smaller than a 3.4 pulley you'll need headers or rockers at least.
Right, Impala SS anyone?
pffft 260hp in a 6ton boat of a car with wheels too wide so that turning radius is impeded? hell yeah thats a racer
I think I'll get one when the '99 SE dies
How come with:
two engine rebuilds
a racing tranny
a stage 2 cam
ported throttle body
and a shift kit
you could only hit high 13's?
The Bose sound system sounds awesome
What are YOUR personal thoughts on the GTP?
Good, cheap cars. I had a '96 Park Avenue Ultra with most of the usual S/C 3.8 mods. It was an incredible sleeper and trouble free.
Here's my Series 2 SC3800 powered sleeper.
1986 Fiero GT, 1997 Bonneville SSEi mill.
i have never heard of an impala that weighs 12,000 pounds.
You have to know what options to order...
I've always wanted to put a S/C or Northstar in one of those.
Any drag times?
