Starting up a small personal photo gallery/photoblog site. Should I use borders or not on my images?
depends on the layout
and the type of border
Here's a sample of the border:
Deleted the old gallery. New gallery added.
That is one hideous gallery, and double borders always look stupid.
I think he's being facetious.
I think it looks disgusting.
The borders? Or the gallery? (or both? )
I just put it up quickly last night, so nothing's set in stone.
Um, no. The main box is centered but the photo is ragged left, it looks stupid. Get a better gallery that centers everything properly and lose or simplify the border.
whatever gallery script your using... it sux.. use something else or keep modifying it.
The gallery works best with specific image dimensions, I just uploaded a few random images to get it up and running so I can design the rest of the layout. My own photos are larger and are sized accordingly. I'm just stuck between adding borders or not? At this point, I'm moving towards no borders with this layout.
If I can get it to center the image, that'll work too. Oh, and the thumbnails are all jacked up due to it getting automatically cropped. It's a free flash photo gallery, can't really expect too much from it. Definitely going to need a lot more work. But thanks for all the feedback.
just have the white border then... besides your gallery has a dark bg the black after the white doesn't really show up.
god, that's a horrible looking gallery.
don't you have any centering options and maybe get rid of the grey background?
not a huge fan.
all your thumbnails are zoomed in of the left part of the picture.
Ok, new gallery:
Needs 6 or 7 more.
Doh! It generated an extra border on top of my borders.
