Damnit, can't they release EP3 first
portal 2 and 3 will have to be out first to tie up all the loose ends with ep3.
Valve seems like a pretty lazy company the past 5-6 years.
Don't get me wrong, I am excited as fuck for Portal 2...but it seems like an easy move for them...they're all about taking work they've already done and just modifying it/slightly improving it.
Left 4 Dead could have been a great story/single player game but they just took an online concept that they already perfected and changed it up to zombies...then they release L4D2 in less than a year and it was just a revised version of 1 ya know?
I wish they'd make HL Episode 3 or a Left 4 Dead with the story and depth of Half Life...
brb changing my pants
Valve says theyre in a big experimental phase right now, I'm not sure if that means they finished ep.3 and portal 2 last year and have a small part of the team polishing them up while they work on new stuff. What would be due next is a new Counterstrike, but they're likely working on completely new IP this year which we probably won't see till late 2011 or 2012
Pretty sure episode 3 is gonna be on a new source engine, if they are taking this long to make it. I wouldn't expect it until the end of next year, with it being shown for the first time at the middle of next year.
They stated the whole reason for doing the episodic style games is so that they can get more use out of the Source engine and improving on that and coming out with smaller games every couple years instead of a big game in 6 years (how long HL2 took) but in all honesty I wouldn't have minded to wait 6 years between HL2 and HL3 instead of these episodes. HL2 was probably the longest campaign I've ever played for a FPS and I loved every second of it.
Anyone got scans from the magazine yet
Portal > *
I pretty much disagree with you entirely. They were lazy the last 5-6 years since HL2? What about the 5 and 6 years between HL1 and HL2?
First one kind of sucked. The vocoder on that woman's voice was incredibly annoying.
I can't WAIT to play this on my Sony PlayStation 3 you guys!
What if portal 2 and episode 3 are the same game
that would be
you mean episode 3
well you are kind of close, rumor has it that the aperture science lab from the first portal will play a role in episode 3
for more information
MAJOR SPOILERS FOLLOWS! IF YOU DONT WANT HALF LIFE 1, 2, Episode 1, Episode 2, AND Portal SPOILED DONT CONTINUE!
Now, heres an interesting and very believable theory i have made up the last 1 hour after reading some interviews, seen videos, read up on the website, cracked the other clues:
Clue 1: Year
On the Aperture Science website it says: "Aperture Science Inc. 1982". The interesting thing is, that Portal takes place same timeline as Half Life 2: Episode 2 which is in around 2012 or 15. This would mean Aperture Science is either well hidden, or something third
Clue 2: Clueless?
This is an interesting thing. Through the registration game on the website, you're asked things like "How long have you gone without talking?" and as we all know, Gordon never talks.
Clue 3: Emotionless...?
Also on the website it asks "Can you stand and watch as your friends suffer?". Gordon has seen millions die, caused suffering, and stands emotionless as Alyx is trapped in a train in Episode 1.
Clue 4: Plot
Here is where it all concludes: Aperture Science has several employees, no one knowing that they develop portal technology. As we know, Kleiner developed a "slow-teleporter". Now, what IF Gordon entered a slow-teleporter in 1985 or something, and came out in 1990. Joined Black Mesa, and it all happened. Now the interesting thing is, Gman would be your "adminstrator". Watching over you.
Clue 5: Stasis
When Gman puts you in stasis, all he does is teleport you to the Aperture Science Inc. facility, leaving you inside a rest-capsule as seen in the following picture:
If you look at the "Capsule" You can see its like a bed. Gman shuts off all light and leaves you there, not aging.
Clue 6: The girl?
Now, this is interesting. In Episode 2, Gman somehow manages to get you into the Aperture Science Inc. HQ against your will. But here comes the interesting thing: I think its the girl how teleports you, and by accident Alyx, to the HQ. This is why Gman says "Someone is not supposed to be here".
Gman, leader of Aperture Science Inc, has hired the Girl antagonist(or Protagonist) to bring back Gordon Freeman to the Aperture Science lab after the vortigaunts destroyed Gman's briefcase where he kept his Aperture Science gun. A new one is created and given to the girl.
Worth noting is that Gabe Newell said "Its like this: You learn more about Episode 2 by playing Portal, and learn more about Portal by playing Episode 2". This concludes my 6-Clue theory that Gordon is in truth hired by Aperture Science Inc. to change something in the past.
Also, it is possible that the girl is the daughter of Gordon and Alyx or Mossman(O_O), or a relative. And she is send back in time by Aperture Science Inc. to stop Alyx from dying(pay attention to the bloody holes on Alyx's back in this pic:
To support my Gman-Aperture Science theory i have this picture:
The screen behind him is possibly the screen he uses to watch the past, present, and future. Thanks for reading
oh hey look its that guy
they both take place in the same universe
