Protein shake after a workout, what's good after a run?
just a regular meal, no need for a spike after cardio
if you say so
and btw, we are talking about cardio
cool, glad to see we are on the same page!!!
That's the problem, I run around 5-6 and I usually don't eat my next meal until 8ish. I figured I should renourish between that time.
what? wheres the problem...just eat the damn meal sooner
then what will he do at 8? if he gets off schedule he is super fucked
I eat at the school dining hall, the lines are fucking ridiculous at the 630-730 hour. I've honestly waited ~30 minutes in line just for a piece of chicken.
marathon runners train for endurance only, and don't give a shit about muscle retention. It is hardly the same as doing cardio for fat loss.
So your suggestion is...
I'm with SteveO here... regular meal is fine. If you can't do that, I would say a 1:1 carb/protein drink (30g/30g or so) should be adequate. There is no need to take in a ton of sugar after cardio, that's just more useless calories you have to account for when dieting.
edit: This is assuming you are doing moderate cardio for fat loss, while trying to retain as much muscle as possible.
You're assumptions are dead on.
