Is there such thing as a time in service ribbon for the army?
Might be getting a new one in the next few weeks.
No. They use service stripes on the left sleeve to indicate time in service. Each stripe stands for 3 years.
Which teh barracks member has the biggest fruit salad?
Purple Heart, Metorious Service, Air Medal w/Valor, ARCOM w/silver oakleaf, AAM w/2 silver oak leafs, Good Conduct, National Defense, Afghani, Iraq, both war of terrorisms, nco development, amry service, overseas
I'm kinda pissed about the Air Medal, I wanted a Distinguished Flying Cross. I'm a glory hound by the way, when i get new medals, i'm fucking thrilled.
ib darkphantom owns us all
I was thinking Turbo, since he is officer, and ribbons don't count as points. They hand them out like candy to officers in AF.
I think you win. Seriously not many can compete with 6 ARCOMs and 11 AAMs, much less the Air Medal for Valor and a purple heart.
I agree with this statement. I sat through one awards ceremony where they handed out 5 bronze stars.
only one other person besides me got the kosovo campaign medal? wtf? that thing was handed out left and right. none of you guys spent any time in the balkans?
NDSM, Kosovo Campaign Medal w/campaign star, Good Conduct Medal, GWOT-S, Army Service ribbon, Overseas Service ribbon, Nato Medal-Kosovo
pac squid here
don't air force, navy & army hand them things out like free candies?
anytime i make an insertion or pickup i get a medal, especially if it isn't safe. SpecOps team leaders put a huge effort into getting us medals. The Air Medal was because i flying medevac without gunship support, and it got messy and i got shot, and still flew my helicopter out of there. So i got the air medal, purple heart, and an arcom, in one day.
I absolutely hate the rank based award system most units have in place. "Soldier single handedly assaulted enemy position saving the lives of his entire platoon, reccomend silver star"... oh damn he is just a PFC, downgrade to ARCOM. "Col noname went the entire deployment without ever leaving the FOB, awarded bronze star w/valor" I bet if you were a LTC or higher instead of a CW2 you would have gotten that DFC.
btw i got shot in the leg, and they told me if i would have gotten shot anywhere besides an extremity then i MIGHT have been eligible for the DFC. Sometimes i don't think these people understand that i needed my leg to fly my helicopter.
