I don't think I've ever calibrated the color/brightness on my LCD at home. So I took over 300 shots at a wedding (not the photographer, I was just the best man) and PP'd about 140 keepers. I'm no pro with the photoshop, so I just concerned myself with brightness, contrast, and sharpness. I used the photo program that came with my D70, PictureProject. I uploaded the photos, then sent them out to everyone, and now looking at them at work I think they're all way too dark. They looked great on my home monitor. Case in point: I'm pretty pissed now. How can I fix this on my monitor at home? Is there any "monitor standard" I can set all my screens at?
