First off, I know this tutorial I wrote up is kind of long, but I promise it's not that complicated. Just try doing it one step at a time All PSPs are "hackable" now but it depends with the PSP2000 and 3000. If the installed firmware is lower than 5.03 then you can do it. Here's the method and some links. 1. If the firmware version is lower than 5.03, install the official 5.03 firmware. If it's already at 5.03, then you're set 5.03 firmware - http://www.mediafire.com/?yju0zzjizmg The install file should go to PSP/GAME/UPGRADE. Install the firmware (if you have to) on the PSP under the Game drop-down menu 2. Plug your PSP into your computer, and use this utility to install ChickHEN (homebrew enabler) ChickHEN Installer - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3A7ID8AA While the PSP is still connected to your computer, copy the custom firmware launcher folder in PSP/GAME folder Custom Firmware Loader - http://www.mediafire.com/?myizwj4mmmn 3. On the PSP, go to PHOTO -> Memory stick. Your PSP will look like it's accessing the memory stick, so click on X a few times really quick and then enter the ChickHEN folder and just wait. One of two things will happen: i) The screen will scramble (flash green) but reboot (this is what you really want), or ii) The PSP will freeze and shut down. If the PSP shuts down, try it again. You're really trying to get the HEN to run. 4. If you stop here, you can run homebrew programs like emulators. If you want to run PSP backups, you need to run the custom firmware loader. On the PSP it's under the Game menu. Just run the 5.00 M33-6 firmware. The PSP should load it up. Now if you go into System Settings > Firmware Version it should say 5.00 M33-6. The PSP backups should appear in the Game drop menu now. Important notes: When you try to load the HEN, understand that the current method is not exactly stable and will not work every time. The most consistent way it worked for me, is to first set the PSP back to default settings, and make it so the PSP won't load UMDs automatically. Make sure the PSP doesn't have a UMD in it. I found this made a pretty big difference, so let me know if you can or can't get it work. Also, let me know if that HEN installer gives you any errors and I'll try to track down another one. Another important thing to know, is that the HEN/custom firmware is loaded into the RAM, so if you shut you PSP down (by holding the power switch to off) you'll have to do this again. If you only put it into sleep mode, it should be fine.
