can someone explain the point of sending 20 mortar shells into the same spot?
Does it not make sense to adjust a bit (left or right +/- 30 feet, let's say) where it lands? If you already hit a vehicle/people/trench 3 or 4 times, why send more shit into the same spot? And if you hit nothing because there was nothing there, well, why send more shit into the spot?

I think they're doing night because of the advantage; russians don't have as much NV/FLIR equipped vehicles/drones whereas Ukraine does; Operating at night with support probably helps assure the safety of the units and avoid detection
