I bought a version of XP that is an "OEM system builder pack". Anyone ever use something like this?

Before opening the package I am reading T&Cs and it says this
First, does this have anything to do with the OS operating?

Second, Is there going to be a valid serial number with this?

That's just describing the activation. OEM Windows XP will definitely come with an authentic CD key. It'll install, activate, and function just like the $300 full retail version except it can't be used as an upgrade over an existing installation. But you shouldn't be upgrading over an old Windows anyway.

    cool

so, will it install like a normal copy or will there be an option to install it to the point where a new computer would be at when its started up for the first time? (if that makes any sense)

It'll act just like a full retail copy.

The system builder pack is just that - it allows a system builder to install windows WITHOUT a key. You still need to buy an OEM copy which will have a key.

So which is true? Key or no key?

The system builder packs can come with keys but they'll say how many are included.
