Look at the top picture in that article. What is the difference in those three rounds? I see what it says in the caption, but what does that mean in laymen's terms? What are these used for? Are these interchangeable with any 22lr??

difference is in velocity of the round - you can use them in any .22 LR.

    Velocity and sound mostly.

  4. The subsonic is simply ammo where the bullet goes lower than the speed of sound. It's quieter, since you don't get the "crack" of a supersonic bullet. It's usually used as target ammo, and is generally the most accurate .22 ammo.

The hyper velocity ammo is usually used for hunting small game, or wasting your money plinking. It is abusive to semi-autos, and in some cases won't fit properly in the chamber.

Just go get some CCI MiniMags. Best .22lr round out there.

plinking is shooting targets for fun.

hyper has the fastest velocity for 22 long rifle and is a lot louder than a subsonic but not too much louder than a standard velocity.

Whatever you get, make sure you get jacketed bullets.

And subsonics are really a waste unless you have a suppressor.

Subs are a bit more accurate. The noise difference is pretty minor.

subsonics are much quieter out of my rifle than standard velocity without a suppressor.

I never noticed a huge difference in my gun. Firing any .22 out of a 20" barrel is quiet as shit though.
