Well its a toss up.. Im currently in a AETF "Army evaluation Task Force" We test Future combat systems.. IE New Ravens, Land warrior ect. I have been doing that for the past 3 years now and my Whiskey code has finally been lifted. Current unit is 1st Armored Divison 5th BCT stationed on Ft Bliss TX and tagged as a Tradoc unit. Well my Dwell time is currently 3 years as of this day. Sister unit is Deploying Dec and they are excepting 4187's for transfer.. I have been contemplating Ranger school then RIP for several months now.. The opportunity for transfers into our sister unit just came out last week.. They just stood up and are in need of more qualified people for their deployment. Well i have been a SSG for 6 months and have no squad leader time due to our unit. We are over strength'd and i have been rated as a TL still. I have a light INF background and for the first 2 years of our test unit we have been using A3 brads and i hated it.. I have a chance to go to a Motorized Section as a SL. Do you think it would be better to go on the deployment and get my time rated as a SL and come back with some experience and then go to Ranger school and try out for ROP or just head out and go to Ranger school then ROP.. Its a tuff decision at this point. The extra money would be nice. Im Single too btw. Thanks for the input..
