I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about. You're the first person everyone turns to for advice when its time to upgrade that computer or buy something technical. So, you give out your well-educated and informed advice, but what do they do? Nothing but argue with you, or tell you how wrong you are. Example, my grandpa just came to me saying that his fiancee (79 years old and getting re-maried? ) wants to buy her granddaughter a laptop to take away to college. He asks me for a recommendation and wants to know how cheaply he can get away with. I say go with a dell, they have ones as cheap as like $700 that have everything she'll need; but I would upgrade because it will make the system that much better, as well as be sure to go with the longest/best warranty available. He responds by saying "well I don't know why we'd need a warranty, I'm sure you can just get generic replacement parts for half that stuff if it ever broke for cheaper than buying the warranty " its like, do you not REALIZE that I'm a professional at this stuff? and then further, he goes on to say "well maybe we can get something just as good at a swap meet and then just call you up if it breaks." hell no, I'm not fixing shit on a useless, -ass swap-meet laptop unless you're gonna pay me ok, rant over.
