Does anyone here reload? I am playing with a new recipie trying to see if I can stabalize it.

I'm shooting .224 50 gr. Varmint Grenades with 24 gr. of Varget in a winchester case with Remington SR 7 1/2 primers.\

Rifle is a 16" 1:9 twist.

I will post targets tomorrow.

Been wanting to try out some of those varmint grenades myself. Let me know how they work out.

I think a 1/7 twist would throw kill the bullets I think they spin at over 300k RPM in a 1/7 :eek5:

But ive heard if theres any wind they suck and stick to Hornady AMAX

A few of us have been known to reload. If I were looking specifically to varmint, I'd use a slower twist, longer barrel with real light bullets.

I reload, but not .223 Rem yet. I have all the components and dies, I just haven't gotten my reloading setup back up yet.

I don't have the pictures loaded yet but I shot some varmint grenades this weekend and was happy with the results.

I was only shooting at 50 yards because I'm using open sights but I shot 20 shots of winchester white box, 45gr varmint rounds as a control, 5 at each target, 4 targets.

The average group was about 2". I think shot 5 rounds at 3 targets and 10 rounds at 1 target with the varmint grenades. They grouped better and although the groups are tighter I feel a lot is shooter error. They grouped at about 1.5" at 50 yards, open sights in the prone shooting position, un supported.

I over laid the targets from each bullet type in photoshop to get my group size.
