See that little "..." before "Among" in your quote? Here's whats missing:
"More than 80% of both the men and women surveyed were married, although the women’s wealth was independent of their husbands’."
See, if you read the actual article this blog is talking about, rather than relying on a blogger to condense the information for you, you get a better, more informed story. Besides, linking to the Wall Street Journal article would do a bit better....I'm not refuting the study, but if youre going to quote, use the whole damn thing from the real story. /rant
EDIT: The article also seems to state that rich women simply have more affairs than rich men, not other women....
I must have missed the original article. My mistake. Honestly I just saw that blurb that I quoted.
Its cool man, I didnt mean to jump in your shit like that, but I've been grading papers for days and I think my citiation lust has gotten outta control.
Anway, the original article is really interesting.
I've been writeing papers all day! You people and your citations!!!!
PS what do you teach Ephaba?
This doesn't really surprise me at all, seeing as how they probably married for the money & lifestyle-not the love. And sure, you might say the whole "well they weren't gold digger's at first," but I don't buy that for a second. Traits like that don't just come after a certain time. If a girl is partially selfish and loves money, or dreams of having it when she doesn't have any, chances are when she finally gets some she's going to become one of those snobs fast.
did you even bother to read the article?
Eek! I need to go check if my ladyfriend makes more than $30 million!
I'm a TA for Poli Sci professors, so technically, I dont teach anything unless the prof's decide they dont want to go to class that day, but I grade allootttt of essays and exams..
lol, definitely not, I was tired and reading it off my phone. Forgive me if my response wasn't applying to the article, I didn't know the women were independently wealthy-I still feel my point stands for the tons of other women who just marry for the money (I was thinking this was one of Falconer's other threads).
EDIT: since I read this right before I fell asleep I swear I dreamt my boyfriend broke up with me because it would be cheaper to be single; thanks a lot Falconer!
Yeah I've been working on this Foreign Policy paper for eternity.
Yeah, if he's paying for you all the time, it would be cheaper for him to be single (obviously not for you if you're getting everything paid for). Of course, if you guys split things, or alternate paying, or whatever, then it's the same price it would be if you were single.
hehehe, we alternate paying. My dream would never actually happen irl, I just found it funny because it was after reading this thread last night
Well, if you need an editor, lemme know! Adding one more to the pile wont hurt!
If you alternate paying then your costs are roughly equivalent to what they would be if you were single.
It would be SO much cheaper for me to be single... :growl:
