Anyone play? downloading it to try it now
there has been a few people that have tried it out. There was even a thread about it I think. I heard it's A LOT like WoW, which is why I didn't really try it out. I mean... if I wanted a game like WoW, why not just reactivate my account right?
I hear it's fun though if you haven't played WoW.
because to reactivate your WOW account would cost you money and since runes of magic is FTP. its not like WOW. its has some wow too it but i has other MMO in it too. i had a 35 mage/20something priest pretty descent game. if i hadn't gotten into darkfall i would still be playing this game.
money isn't a huge issue for me. Well... not the $15/month at least. I play these MMOs for the fun factor =) So if this game could entertain me for even a month, I'd probably play it. I'm sure it could. I'm not saying it's a bad game... it's just I hear so much how it's like WoW, which is kind of a turn off for me at this moment.
i'm down if more people get in on this
to be honest what MMO doesn't get the it's like WOW, or the its has to be like WOW to hold my attention.
Ive been playing for a short while now. Im at 30/28 on my knight/rogue. Its a great substitute for wow or as a time filler when you dont want to be paying for a game.
i know thats why i don't play runes any more and i play darkfall
but for a FTP its actually a pretty good game. honestly when i played you really don't need to spend money to buy stuff either. honestly the only thing you only need to buy is a mount. if you don't wanna rent one for 2 hours for 3k gold.
the first expansion dropped. gonna give it a try
talk about ambition not meeting standards
So what's the deal with this? Does anyone play this?
It seemed so generic and borrowed heavily from wow.
Couldn't get into this one but the auto run is pretty sweet.
that one gets the "it has to be like WoW to hold my attention"
which it's not, so alot of people don't play
not that that's a bad thing, just an observation
Started the download for this last night, I'll probably try it out tonight.
I got sick of paying $15/month for WoW when I played it maybe once or twice a week, and rarely had time for big raids.
I tried other free MMO's but got bored quickly. What I really like in an RPG is big boss battles and being able to upgrade to cool stuff. I also like the camera angles and graphics of WoW - so I hope I'm not disappointed by Runes of Magic.
I have to say I enjoyed the cloneliness of this game. I'm kind of ticked that my girlfriend only gets 10 fps on it though, I was trying to get her into some games where we could play together, this is unplayable and unfun because of the computer limitations. Runs like a dream on my computer
So then stop paying.
I did....that's why I'm posting in this thread....
Played this a little last night, looks pretty interesting so far. Interface/controls are identical to WoW so the learning curve is pretty low. Seems pretty awesome for a free game.
This game is really good for a Free to play game. BUT they make it very hard to have a decent character without spending actual money on this game. for instance mounts of course make the game way better, but the only way to get a permanent mount was to spend real life cash. Also you get uber equipment buffs and xp buffs etc if you spend real life money. If you wanted to pvp and not spend any money on your character, you could be easily one shotted by someone the same lvl that did spend money on his toon.
They ripped off a lot of idea from Wow in this game, and its actually done pretty well. but i quit once i realized i had no chance in the game Vs people who were spending money on their toons.
some people spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on their character, poor people, or people who just dont wanna blow money have no chance.
Game is pretty fun, but there are a lot of little annoyances that only go away if you pay money (only 2 bag slots, global chat displays and you can't mute it, no mount). Aside from that, everything is pretty much WoW that's rough around the edges. If I'd never played WoW I'd think the game has some long-term potential, but the more I played it the more I just wanted to go back to WoW.
Bumping this thread...RoM has released three chapters now and has really become a great game. I came to the Gamers section of the forum just to see if anyone here plays it.
I've played for over a year now and they are working hard to keep the game interesting. Even at max level there is *always* something to do. It's still FTP, but I have spent a little money on it to make better gear and get a perma-mount. You can also spend in-game gold to buy the cash shop items from other players who spend actual money.
There is now the Siege War every night, which is a LOT of fun. Guilds go head to head and duke it out to protect their castle and take over the enemy's. The rankings are saved so that guilds get paired up with other people at their level. (In the beginning there was a lot of slaughtering going on while the rankings were established. That part was nuts.)
Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone plays and to encourage those who were iffy about it to give it a try.
I am Adalie on the server Govinda if anyone wants to say hi!
