My achilles tendinitis lasted 3-4 mos but I stretched & trained around it. I'm in zero drop Altras now, stretch less and feel better. Good luck

PT has been good. Just doing strengthening and stretching for the ankle. And some sort of steroid cream that gets delivered through e-stim. :dunno:

Knee has a decent amount of fluid around it, so she's been doing cupping, deep tissue massage, and - my least fucking favorite, but probably most effective - dry needling.

She says I'm fine to run, and I "ran" Monday with no pain - it just felt a bit weird. Ankle was 100x better than it had been. She does want me to stay in the Brooks until everything feels better - mainly for stability for my knee.

my PT had me sold on dry needling but the pain I was dealing with at the time went away before I got back from vacation to try it. Glad to hear it's effective, but man it's gonna freak me out when I end up trying it, needles suck

It's SUPER weird. You don't really feel the needle at first because of how tiny they are, but then it gets into the muscle to the "trigger point" and holy shit. She did my calf and I thought that was the worst. Did my quad just above my knee and it wasn't too bad. Then today, she did like mid-quad and that was awful. It only lasted a few seconds but ow! I've had it done in my back before, where she hooked it up to an e-stim.. that was more weird than painful though.

Moral of the story: go to PT early, not late.

Race or just for fun?
Just fun. Was doing my regular 10 miles, but decided to make another 1/2 loop to hit 13.1

Usually just do a single, 4 mile loop 2-3x per week. But been doing 2 loops (10miles) since last month to get ready for the Golden Gate Half in November.

Hoping for sub 2hrs, but not sure how hilly the course through San Francisco will be.

That's awesome. You've gotten quite a bit faster.

Just reserved a parking spot for the GG Half on Nov 7.
$45 :yikes:

And every review has the reviewer's car being broken into at this location. :ugh:
We'll see how it goes. Maybe criminals will sleep in on Sunday mornings. :hmm:

I’ve been doing some light training for a race that’s coming up, it’s only a 10k but it has a couple thousand feet of elevation changes throughout the route and it is easily more brutal than a flat half by a long shot. The trick is that the route is actually in my neighborhood and I run it on an almost daily basis so basically if I lose this race I might as well commit sudoku

Swelling hasn't gone down so PT suggested MRI. Had to see an orthopedic specialist first. His initial thought is a torn lateral meniscus, so we'll see what the MRI shows. :hsd:

Just did an amazing 6.5 on a tough fucking route, felt like all uphill today. Perfect chilly weather for me. I want to do so much more but Trying to force myself to chill the fuck out and not constantly get injured, I’m not getting any younger

That time of year again, what are we wearing for winter gear this time y’all? I’m fine with my basic under armor pants and a neck gaiter but could use some really solid gloves suggestions that actually keep your hands warm, and a nice rain resistant jacket would be good as well with some decent storage on it. I picked up one of those stupid ass neoprene running masks last year and I hate it but I have a feeling I’m going to end up using it before too long. Any suggestions on the other shit I mentioned?
