anyone know of a way to download real player videos onto your hdd?
The only way I know of: copy the link location. Make a notepad file and create a web page with that link. Open the web page in Internet Explorer. Right click, save as. If the downloaded file is another link, which it sometimes is, then repeat process as necessary.
And if you finally get to a mms: (instead of http: ) link, like what ifilms uses, then as far as I know, there's no way of getting the movie file because of Windows' content limitations. You'd have to somehow save the stream directly to your hard drive, for which you would need a separate program to do.
Or you can use a program that does what wget does on Linux.
