    Will a 5.56 NATO chambered gun shoot a .223 Rem?

    Yeah, but an upper marked 5.56 and it'll shoot .223

    Like the other guys said:

    A 5.56 rifle/barrel will handle 5.56 and .223
    A .223 chamber will handle .223

    Some .223 chambers will be OK with 5.56, but those are the exception, and not to be counted on.

    5.56 can handle both, .223 can only handle .223
