I am still dumbfounded by the way Sherk fought against BJ Penn. Where was the Sherk we all love (or hate)? The relentless takedowns, never stopping, always going. I was expecting a ground war, BJ Penn, one of the greatest ground fighters to compete in MMA and Sean Sherk, one of the most aggressive takedown artists in MMA. What we saw was a timid version of Sherk, he thought he was winning the stand up but even then, why didn't he go for the takedowns with set ups from his punches? Sure he was trying to tire out BJ Penn by striking for a couple rounds and then go for takedowns but he never really used this strategy before unless he was outclassed and had no choice (GSP). He tried going for like two takedowns but those were half assed takedowns compared to what he has done before, he has great double legs but went for single legs which he knew BJ Penn could get out of. I would like to see a rematch, not now, maybe next year or two but I would honestly like to see a rematch. I just wanted to see a war on the ground with two guys who are polar opposites when it comes grappling and it would've been great to watch.
