100-plus mph winds shut down several Tahoe ski resorts

Several Tahoe ski resorts are closing for the day Tuesday because of strong winds, some that are over 100 mph.
According to the
National Weather Service, the strong northeast winds are causing waves as high as 3 to 6 feet for the western shore and ridge wind gusts at speeds of about 110 to 130 mph.
“The highest winds will last through the morning and still strong for the afternoon, but they start to come down into the evening,” wrote Bryan Allegretto, a California snow forecaster, for a blog post on
Open Snow. “Many upper mountain lifts likely starting the day on wind hold. Highs only in the 30s today and 20s for the upper elevations, with wind chills making it feel much colder.”
He also noted that there were gusts over 130 mph at the top of Alpine..............................
