What are the laws and restrictions of shipping ammo to Roselle, Illinois?
shouldn't be any issues. they just put a sticker on the box that says ARMD or something like that. but I don't live in IL.....I just don't think there is any state restrictions
if buying online , gotta submit the foid card to place your buying it from.
Illinois = Foid card for everything
Shipping some ammo up to my Uncle in IL
Around 1k of 9mm FMJ and 200rds of HP
oh, forgot about the foid
but if you're shipping it from yourself to him, I'd just say fuckit. do it
just don't use FedEx or UPS. send it USPS, they wont catch it
and I know how stupid that sounds because it's the USPS, but trust me
I've always understood that it's illegal to ship ammo via USPS. I just did a Google search and found lots of folks claiming it's illegal but no authoritative proof.
You DO have to apply the ORM-D sticker per DOT. That will alert every postal employee and they'll let you know.
A FOID card is an Illinois requirement and Illinois lacks jurisdiction over an out-of-state shipper. Most, but not all, companies that sell ammo ask to see a scan of your FOID just to be good "corporate citizens". Legally it's the responsibility of the recipient to follow Illinois law.
or you just send a box that doesn't have it on there. they're not going to know any different if it's coming from a private party and not a business
You'll probably get away with it but the ORM-D label IS a legal requirement. My neighbor works for the USPS and says they xray suspicious packages. Why take a chance. You could end up with a bunch or grief and probably end up without the ammo.
UPS shipping depot, ORM-D sticker
wtf makes a package suspicious?
Too much postage and no return address.
Hell, I don't know. The point was that they sometimes xray and so there is some risk involved. Why take a chance over a lousy sticker?
not going to tell you how I know.....but they must not xray many packages then
trust me. if they do, there is 1:1,000,000 chance
Not to mention if im shipping $300 worth of Ammo I dont want it going USPS
you's guy's don't understand how the USPS works. they're not a private company, and it's against the law for the government to open your mail without a warrant.
UPS/FedEx on the other hand...
EDIT: I used to, and know people who still do (I don't do that stuff anymore), who get 4:20 delivered to their fucking homes on a WEEKLY basis and never get caught. And this is USPS.
true story. and the airport is pretty bad about catching 420 when carrying/shipping on flight too
I wouldn't know about that. just saying, they wont open it. of course, we're not talking about huge quantities either
Yea but they dont have to open it to xray it and its a felony offense, xraying weed wont show up as weed it would just show up as what looks like a plant
Pretty sure an xray of ammo is going to look like well ammo
