It's good to see him back in training. Are elbow strikes like that even allowed? It's a pretty neat combo he's working on though that's for sure. Looks like the first punch is an uppercut followed by a hook or something like it, followed by and elbow, then another elbow. Seems kinda risky, but in an clinch/close or dirty boxing it'd be pretty sweet.
I'm just happy to see him moving like that. He didn't look comfortable on his knee at all when he gave the seminar at our place.
I was talking to one of his business partners/translator and he's working back to normal training, the gym is going to be partnered with Wandy's new place, and everything's going well. Anderson Silva's supposed to stop by soon. I just wish the place wasn't in fucking Brazil.
why wouldn't they be allowed?
I really hope he comes back tearing up the lhw division
Thats a shiny floor and its good to see him back hope we see Shogun the pride version turn up in the UFC.
I agree with that. There is some really good talent coming from Brazil and nearly all of the train together or are friends. Would be nice to train with a big group like that.
Oh, well I'm going anyway...it's just a shit ton more convenient when plane tickets to train are 200 bucks instead of 2000.
I want to see him better than ever
Haha awww I totally didn't mean it like that! I mean, it's sucks that it's in Brazil but it's kinda an excuse to see that little part of the world.
irony with "Brazil" and "little".
But yeah, I know what you're saying for sure.
awesome forest rematch is eminent
looks like he is moveing good
I think it will be a while before that. I would say there are a few guys ahead of him in line. Unless Forrest gets destroyed in his next defense I dont think you will see him fight Shogun again any time soon
Maybe it was Pride that had that strange rule. I believe there is a rule like that in Canadian MMA rules.
Edit: Fuck I don't even know what I'm saying. People called Fedors cut an illegal strike and all it was, was a jab, but the elbow connected since he was moving in, the same style as that.
Not that I know of. But the only MMA matches I've competed in were smokers, so therefore not "sanctioned" and not really governed by strict rules. Mostly UFC style rule book.
Fedor's cut wasnt in Pride or Canada.
those elbows are just your basic cross your chest elbow, completely legal in any UFC bout.
Fuck yeah you're right. I know there is no downward elbow strikes, but that makes sense. I don't really train my elbow strikes although I love them. If I were to compete in a san shou out here they allow no elbow strikes.
yeah, and the rule against the downward strike only applies if your elbow is moving from up to down (towards ground). So pretty much any elbow you'll see that has proper placement is gonna be legal.
