So... in my infinate wisdom the other day I didn't check the hook height of an adjustable bench I was using monday and after doing a set of close grips I went to put the bar back into the hooks and instead of going into the hooks the bar went over the backstop and went crashing behind me. Luckily I had just started and only had 135 on the bar but I am in pain none the less. The result of all this is pain in my left elbow when I attempt to bench or do a pushup (focused on the outside of my elbow) and pain in my right shoulder. I have full range of motion in both joints and unless I put pressure on it in a pressing motion there is zero pain what so ever in my left elbow. My shoulder bothers me when I extend my arm above my head or try and do a pressing movement with it. The shoulder pain is remeniscent of when I had bicepital tendonitis in my left shoulder which was cured by some ART. Now my question is this.. I can go see a general practitioner or go straight to a sports medicine/physical therapy specialist as my insurance does not require any refferals. My other option is going to see an ART practitioner my former DC/ART doc reccomended in the area(i moved away from my old ART doc). My real fear is that when the bar went back I may have partially torn something. I want to avoid a cortisone shot or any bandaid fix but I am also really hoping its not something that will require surgery. Any advice? What would you do?
