I just received a new battery in the mail for my iBook (they were subject to a recall). Apple wants me to put my old battery in the packaging and send it back to them. I can't decide if I should or not, and why I even would. 1) It works fine, and would be handy as a backup. 2) If I sent it back to Apple, they would just huck it in the garbage, and it would be of no use to anyone. 3) Of all the batteries recalled, they say only 6 have had the overheating problem. 4) What are they gonna do if I don't send it back? So, should I keep it or send it back?
