do we get dividends?
nope, but you get herpes
if the new GM leadership agrees to pay out dividends, i think the government would get paid out on them but i'm not sure. i think that the gov is going to swap the money GM owes them for stock in the new company but i could be wrong on this so double check it.
no, we don't get shit
We get to keep giving them money.
you can have my worthless shares then
the gov't can force me to own GM but they can't force me to buy a GM
sure they can, and you can bet your ass they are going to try
Taxpayers don't own shit and any politician or media person who says that is just straight up lying.
Federal government owns GM. They used taxpayer money to gain controlling interest in the companies and that money is lost. We don't see any of that back. PLUS in agreements with GM and Chrysler, the government is going to give them MORE of taxpayers money.
We have NO say in how the company is run, we don't get any benefits or discounts, we don't get any stock returns. We get a nice dick in the ass though.
No, we just give them more money to waste...so they can fail again..so we can give them more money...so they can fail again..so we can give them more money....hope/change
We give THEM dividends.
i hope americans won't buy a new GM out of spite
Its Government Motors now!
I think the profits (lol) go to the treasury and our taxes will be raised at a slower pace - so technically we win
I was thinking somethng similar - fuck them.
I hope the plan is to eventually sell off the government's stake to private shareholders though.
Do we get access to Apache Helicopers and the White House?
I mean, we own all of that too....
huge government incentives to buy GM incoming
Good luck getting everyone on board for that.....Look at how hard the government is stopping the banks from repaying TARP.
no but you can put it on your resume
I will never purchase another GM product!
The government buying corporations is just the first few steps into communism and socialism
the government limiting systemic risk with plans to exit in the future is a step toward communism?
protecting capitalism = communism?!
Yeah - I'm not holding my breath, but it's the best case scenario.
If a Republican can win before the total collapse of our financial and manufacturing sectors they'd definately sell off the gov stake.
