Does every one in the Navy "carry" a 0000 NEC? Even after you go to a C school and are awarded a specific NEC and even billeted for that NEC at a command? I'm in an arguement about the new SRB rates and which ones I should get. Basically AUG08 rates were 0000 1.0, 2735 3.0. FEB09 msg came out and changed them to 0000 0.0, 2735 1.0 to go into effect 11 MAR 09. My CCC sat on my obliserv to train request for a few weeks and just sent it off, it was disapproved because I requested to reenlist for 2735, but they said that since 0000 gives a SRB i could not be approved for 2735. I am arguing that I do not hold the 0000 NEC, no where does it say I am 0000, and I am billeted for 2720 (which does not give a SRB). Excerpt from the OPNAVINST on SRBs says... "a member who is not eligible for an srb in their preset rating/skill or who does not hold an srb eligible nec may qualify for an srb if they cover to, or train for, an srb eligible rating/nec/skill." So 0000... does that stick to everyone no matter what?
