i ditched my car and bought a bike instead. I now ride everywhere I go. It's great. 30 mins each way to work. Best cardio investment ever!
+ I now do lots of trail riding
Not a bad idea.. I live about 4 miles from the branch. No reason I can't bike it every day (except for rain, but I can deal)..
Once I heal.
I picked up a Columbia Ignition DS (Mountain Bike for trails). It's 8km each way to school/work (same place). Takes about 20-25 mins. It's a 3km bike to the gym, takes about 10 mins. It starts to ad up quickly. So for me, I'll bike over an hour each day just in my routine. Saves me in gas big time. I'll have the bike paid for by August in fuel costs I save.
Realistically, the rain isnt too bad; I actually prefer it . It's nice and cool. Just remember to wear an extra layer. I always wear 2 shirts when biking out of habbit.
Oh, get ready to have sore gluts. It's awkward riding a bike again after . I felt violated!

Wouldn't a road bike be easier? Or no?

KM = logical units.
A road bike would be easier, but then you can't go riding in the mountains and trails. I usually am doing DH rides on the weekends, so a road bike wouldnt work for me.
