did it today for 2.75 miles, but I had to avoid seaweed and shit. is it weak sauce?
some people on here cant even run a 9:30 mile on a track so be proud.
3 miles in 18 minutes is considered pretty fuckin good
under 10 for almost 3 miles in the sand is probably better than I could do and I am in good shape
I meant 9.5 minutes per mile. so the whole run was like 25 minutes or a little less.
yeah, i know what you meant, its a pretty good time
i think he knew that.(i hope he did cuz who the fuck runs sub 4 minute miles on sand ), its still a good pace man. unless you're trying to be a world elite boxer or something, 9:30 is pretty good in sand, im sure you'd get that time down another minute at least if you kept doing it too for a few weeks or months.
Well top runners will run a 5k(3.1 miles) in the low 13 minute range. 25 isn't bad for a beginner but it isn't very good either.
on a treadmill (for pace) what settings do i need to do 1.5 miles in under 13 minutes?
Is this wet or dry sand?
you couldn't figure this out?
lol no ;/
This is in sand, and mostly dry. Some times when hot chicks walked by I would jog over to the water to check em out but mostly dry,
just short of 7mph
60minutes/13minutes = ~4.6 X 1.5mi = 6.9mph
60 minutes X 7mph pace = 7 mi completed/4.6= 1.5 mi
i have to keep a constant 7mph holy shit
do you guys run at that speed all the time, or do u slow the pace a bit, and sprint at the end?
Thats an easy pace on a tredmill, if you can't do that then do the couch to 5k program. If you google that you will find it, in a couple weeks you will be running 3 miles in like 21 minites.
is it 7.0 on the threadmill?
damn i'd be running my ass off
but i'm a fatty ;/
That's extremely fast if you're out of shape. If you're running on a treadmil, I'd focus more on running for a certain time than a certain distance. To work yourself up to a reasonable use this guide christophers posted for me:
Week 1, Workout 1: 20 minutes @ 70% of HRmax
Week 1, Workout 2: 25 minutes @ 70% of HRmax
Week 1, Workout 3: 30 minutes @ 70% of HRmax
Week 2, Workout 1: 20 minutes @ 75% of HRmax
Week 2, Workout 2: 25 minutes @ 75% of HRmax
Week 2, Workout 3: 30 minutes @ 75% of HRmax
Week 3, Workout 1: 20 minutes @ 80% of HRmax
Week 3, Workout 2: 25 minutes @ 80% of HRmax
Week 3, Workout 3: 30 minutes @ 80% of HRmax
Week 4, Workout 1: 20 minutes @ 85% of HRmax
Week 4, Workout 2: 25 minutes @ 85% of HRmax
Week 4, Workout 3: 30 minutes @ 85% of HRmax
Basically, you start at a certain speed, and build up your endurance over 3 workouts. Then you cut the time back down, but increase your speed and build the time back up, etc. It'll kick your ass into shape if you actually do it.
i've seen that before somewhere. looks good. i'll have to try it. i have shin splints and a weak ankle though.....they make braces for those don't they?
Remember I told you about that Hal Higdon 5K? Definately try out the couch to 5K one that killerZees suggested. It looks way better for out of shape fatties like us.
I never found these heart rate workouts effective personally.
hehe, if by "top runners" you mean the ethiopian elites...
18 minute 5k is a very respectable time.
i dont think a 25 min 5k in sand is bad at all, keep it up.
so is it better for you to run on sand? I have a beach near my house if it is.
at the gym last night there was this guy running on a treadmill that looked like he was from ethiopia..no kidding. only he was wearing the short little running shorts that had a texas flag on them
too bad, he woulda been cute if he stopped running and lifted some weights.
theres also this lady at my gym that i swear to goawd cant weigh more than 90 lbs soaking wet. shes gotta be at least 50 yrs old. her head looks about twice as big as her leg. everyday she comes in and gets on a treadmill and stays there for hours. i think it's getting so disturbing that the gym should ask her to leave or at least not do any more cardio until she gains some weight because i'm sure she has a weight problem and is gonna end up killing over on the treadmill one of these days
