I took the day off and will be heading out with the wife.
I went to the unofficial one a few weeks ago. I think we got 100 people at the most. Hopefully the next one will be bigger.
Apparently it's nationwide on 4-15
Is this the same thing Glenn Beck has going on the 9-12 project site... or different?
Same thing I think. Check out my link.
Yeah I did.
So its just a time wasting protest?
cool vid for the San Antonio 4/15 tea party
It's separate from Glenn Beck's thing. I would imagine this is either going to be some pussy shit, or a bunch of loonies...I don't know where in the grey area between I want to see it though.
I'd guess that in the ballot/soap/ammo box list of events, this is on the Soap level. Can't complain about nothing changing if we don't try to make ourselves heard.
Call it pussy shit if you want, but it's better than sitting at home watching things change around you.
Id much rather do something else.
Ironically enough, I will be in the office trying to get all of my clients tax returns filed or extensions filed before the 4-15 deadline.
Because they're going to listen to this like the Bush administration listened to the hippie anti war protests?
ill let you know as soon as the site loads
"The Tea Party protests, in their current form, began in early 2009 when Rick Santelli, the On Air Editor for CNBC, set out on a rant to expose the bankrupt liberal agenda of the White House Administration and Congress. Specifically, the flawed “Stimulus Bill” and pork filled budget."
So, they're protesting the same shit that's been going on for years? And hasn't the stimulus bill been around since before the "liberal agenda" gained momentum?
if these idiots really wanted change, they'd spend their energy assassinating bank managers; because that's where their tax dollars are going- golden parachutes.
Grr... no set location for my closest one yet.
So we shouldn't care because it isn't a new problem?
don't put words in my mouth. i didn't say anything about not caring. i criticized their means of going about it, and the fact that they think it's some sort of "liberal agenda" that's paying for $160 million in bonuses to AIG employees.
the problem with this movement is that it doesn't involve giving large amounts of money to politicians, that's the only way to change shit in the US. Hippies complaining in small numbers doesn't not facilitate change.
the 4/15 protests arent the end all be all, it's simply a beginning. a lot of people still havent heard of the tea parties. what these will do is draw national media and get the word out, and the more people who attend initially, the greater the impact on those who havent a clue.
Everyone wants to be first to be second. Once the masses see the demonstrations, maybe they'd be willing to take a little time out for the next one.
My greatest fear is that the neocons will glom onto this as an anti-Obama thing and screw it up. It's up to true conservatives and libertarians to show up, too. Otherwise, it'll just get played off as another (R) vs (D) thing.
you will be labeled a terrist
I kinda want to go, but I can't get anyone to go with me
Any ATL people need a friend?
I'm trying to decide if I should go to the local one here in town, or go to Sacramento and do it at the state capital.
the video says King George III (11 seconds in)
I always thought it was George II..
ahh it was George III. II died in 1760
